A few months ago, I met a woman who had just moved to town and we seemed to have a lot in common. Our oldest kids both started school this year, and are at the same school, but in different classes. I thought we could be friends, and when she said she was looking for a church, I invited her to mine. She hadn't visited, and when I saw her at the school again one day, she asked for my phone number, and we exchanged numbers. I again invited her to church. Not long after that, I kept feeling like I should call her, but I didn't want to seem pushy and I waited for over a week. When I did call, I found out that her youngest had been very ill in the hospital, and she had been on her own through that.

I felt so humbled. She needed a friend, and I ignored God asking me to be there for her. I have since seen her several times and called her. She is always very friendly, but has not visited our church or been interested in going out to lunch.

This morning before I read your post, I was venting my frustration to a friend that I feel like God has put me in her path when I don't think she wants to be friends! I wish He would just tell me what I am supposed to do or say to her.

Again, I am so humbled. I am a work in progress, and it is NOT about me. I am so grateful that He loves me enough to keep working on me.

I think I just had this conversation with my 8 yr old daughter...not the math one ha! The if God already knows why doesn't he tell us sooner one!

I'm much like that too...Trying to learn to wait--makes me think of this one "You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you." Isaiah 26:3

My husband says if I homeschooled he would find me curled in the fetal position every.single.night when he got home. Homework is always a challenge!!

This is making me think of one of my favorite passages..

James 1: 2-12:

2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

9The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position. 10But the one who is rich should take pride in his low position, because he will pass away like a wild flower. 11For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will fade away even while he goes about his business.

12Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him."

It is so important to remember that we are a work in progress, and will not be perfect until we are in front of the throne.

And what we learn and how we respond to those lessons through the process here on earth is how we show the glory of God to others in ways they can relate to. Any, maybe, hopefully, bring them to God also!
