Favorite Books

One of the most frequent ways God speaks to me is through authors of great books. Having done my fair share of writing, I appreciate the years of experience (usually associated with pain, loss and struggle), Bible study and intense prayer that preceeds the birth of a book manuscript. It's sort of like prescription drugs...you pay $200 for 30 days of your alergy pills because you are actually paying for the years of blood, sweat and tears that went into the research and development of the drug. Or so they tell us.

So, here they are.  My favorite books.

Boundaries With Kids, by Henry Cloud and John Townsend

Hey girlie..aren't you sweet for doing a giveaway. As I read your list of books..I saw several that I have on my shelf as well! I just recently heard an interview w/ the author of She's Gonna Blow. It was so real! I went looking for it a couple days after and it was out of stock. So that is the one I'd love to have..after that would be Lysa's new one and then Tammy's Christmas one.
Oh...off the subject..I've got some recipes coming..hope I can still connect w/ them on FFF.
Love ya,
Alyce

Blessings Sandy...Personally I'd like your book and I agree with so many of your choices...that I've read but the ones that I'd really like to get my hands on (I say ones in case any are spoken for already)because the are jumping off the page at me:)

Get out of That Pit, by Beth Moore
(just cause I have not one of her books and I've heard so much about them and her but I listen to her online)and not because I'm in a pit...have been there and temporarily escaped!

Boundaries, by John Townsend and Henry Cloud...because I never set them and suffered for not learning this!

Becoming More than a Good Bible Study Girl, NEW RELEASE! by Lysa Terkeurst

***What Happens When Women Walk in Faith, by Lysa Terkeurst

and I love Max Lucado but think I can wait on him.

How to contact me? I think you have emailed me...back when I wrote you a book for a comment when you started Freedom series or was it the Hear God...my address in Mexico would not work well but I have a USA one:
12878 120th St. N. Stillwater, MN 55082

I would appreciate any one of these. Spanish sometimes gets to me and it's great to have a recent Christian book in English to speak to me. Thanks!

Just came over to see if you heard about praying for Andrew conference call and since you posted on it, I guess you know!!! Praying with you!

Wow, what an awesome giveaway...Parenting books are great, but I just have girls, so not Dr. Dobson's book. I also already have the Rick Warren & Stormie Omartian books, so not those. Love Lysa TerKeurst, but it seems like many want her new book also...really anything else.

Love your blog!

Thanks,
Tina

How did you get that title to jump off the page like that?!?

oh sandy what an incredible list!! I am gonna bookmark this blog entry for sure- what great resources! :)

I am not sure what exactly I'd like.. but 2 that really stuck out to me bigtime were a) boundaries & b) holy discontent

again - what a great list! I am going to add all these I haven't read (I actually have read a lot of them as well!) to my Christmast list!

do you have a place where you keep your books in your home? I keep having to get more and more bookshelves until I finally just stored them all beacuse they were taking over hehe I actually went through a purging and got rid of a ton and just kept my favorites. but I still want a library/office space with lots of bookshelves for them!

anyway :) sorry for my usual ramblings. thanks for you!

Thanks for the list Sandy, I love to get book recommendations from other Christians.

I would love to have Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl by Lysa TerKeurst.

Well, I am reluctant to enter the give-a-way since I only win give-a-ways when I'm the only one in the give-a-way or maybe one out of two. sniff sniff booo hooo

If by some miracle of God I were to win, I suppose one of the parenting books would be nice.

I would love to have any of the books on the list; I do have the ones by Stormie Omartian and the one by Dr.Gary Chapman. I think that if I must pick one, it would be Bringing up Boys, by Dr. James Dobson. I have raised 3 daughters and had a son late in life, so this one interests me quite a bit. Thanks so much!
